The JR-2 class and its participants are considered the "big dogs" among Karting's junior classes and feature drivers between ages 12-15. International Karting Federation rules and guidelines are used to govern this class providing participants a solid foundation of skills that may be transferred to one of many 'next-level' racing options including SCCA, NASCAR, Indy and even Formula 1 development programs.
One of the many benefits our club offers is the single-engine package utilizing the Briggs Racing World Formula 4-cycle engine package. These engines are very reliable, solid and powerful that provide an outstanding mix of fast speeds with a very low maintenance expense.
JR-2 chassis specifics: open to any manufacturer. Wheel base max is 50" min. 39.75" . Width min. front is 28" rear max is 55-1/8 " There are many different chassis brand out there . Your looking for a full size kart that you can run a four stroke engine.
JR-2 engine specifics: Briggs World Formula (WF) 12hp w/built in electric starter. (TAG) touch and go. We have an open gear and carb jet rule. The clutch is inboard.
JR-2 technical detail: The minimum weight is 300 Lbs, including driver, after the race(s). Tires are club-specified MG Red R60's (maximum of four sets for the eight races), rears being 6" wide and fronts being 4" wide. Gearing is open.
