2016 Membership Kick-Off Event on 2.20.2016
Even though it is still cold and snowy outside, it is time again for our first kick-off meeting for the 2016 racing season! This years event will be held at Unser Racing Kart Shop on Saturday, February 20th from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
What to bring?
All of the critical documents for 2016 are on our site and referenced below. Please take the time to read and complete each of them prior to our meeting. These include the CJKC and IKF member applications, the minor release forms (which needs to be notarized), the club's mission statement, the patron package and a list of the 2015 club committees that need volunteers.
Don't forget - The earlier you turn in your member applications, the sooner you'll receive your 2016 IKF Rule Book (not available online)! If you have any questions along the way, don't hesitate to contact us.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you are a first-time IKF member, you MUST BRING IN THE DRIVERS ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE! We will also need a photocopy to mail to the IKF. Without the original (and copy) of the birth certificate, we cannot finish the application.
1. The 2016 CJKC Application - this is fairly straight forward. As with the IKF membership, the "Member Name" is parent or legal guardian, not the racer. The annual fee is $80 for the Member (adult) and it includes the first racer. Additional racers are $80 each. Each registered racer will receive a Club logo t-shirt, Membership card and a year-end series award. A couple of other clarifications:
-
Transponders - NEW 2016 - This year the club has very limited operational transponders. Rental of the transponders will be on a first come, first serve basis to club memebers first. It is an aging fleet and soon to be obsolete. In order to ensure your racing integrity, it's time to rent a transponder, on your own, from the following site: My Laps They offer X2 Transponders that come with a subscription for 1, 2 or 5 years. When the subscription ends, you can renew it with another period: choose the subscription that fits your racing career best.
-
Racing Number - Racers that are returning in 2016 to the same class they competed in the 2014, will get to keep their number if they wish. Any Racing Number that was not raced last year in each class, can be requested on the form. We will post the numbers from last year on our website later this week. If we know a driver is not returning, or is moving up the the next class, we will not post those numbers on the website, and they will be available. In the case of multiple request for the same number, we will select the racer who registered first.
-
The club is trying to secure sets of MG Red tires for a discounted price. Members who attend the meeting and turn in their application will be given the first opportunity to reserve a set of tires at the discounted price. Supply will be limited, and we do not have enough for everyone to get a set, so make sure to attend the event to get your name on the list. Payment for the tires WILL NOT be collected at this time.
-
The CJKC Membership forms includes the IKF fees on the form to make it easy to calculate the totals. This is not on top of the fees that are on the IKF form, but a duplicate to help members write one check to the CJKC to cover both forms. Please fill out both forms with the correct totals, but know you will only write a check for the totals on the CJKC form, and we will mail the IKF fee to them on your behalf.
2. IKF Application - When filling out the application, National Members Name should be the parent or legal guardian of the racer(s), and the $60.00 fee applies to them. The racer(s) go under "Family Membership", which will be $10.00 per racer.
Please bring the racers original birth certificate and a copy of the certificate for the IKF’s files. If you are a returning IKF member, we will not need the original birth certificate as it will already be on file with the IKF. For new members, we cannot complete this form without the birth certificate.
The CJKC is an IKF “Sprint” series. Disregard any reference to Road Race, Shifter or Sprint TaG.
[Note: both of these applications can be paid with one check made out to: The Colorado Junior Karting Club
3. Minor Release Form: Must be filled out and notarized. We will have a notary at the event to help get this completed (or you can fill it out and have it notarized before the event).
4. Patron Package - The club needs sponsors!! If you or someone you know would like to become a sponsor of the CJKC, this document details the different levels and what goes with each. It would be great if each family was able to bring in one patron this year, as the club operates as a non-profit (working to get our 501(C)(3) this year), and it's the only way to keep our fees low. Please pass a copy of this document along to anyone that you think might be interested!
5. Volunteer Opportunities - The club cannot operate without the help of our many volunteers, both inside and outside the club. The committee list for 2014 makes it clear just how many volunteer positions we have to fill, but many of them require only a few hours each season. We want to give parents the opportunity to help out with the different tasks that it takes to make the club successful and race days happen. Please take the time to review the list and see if there's a committee well suited to your skills and interests, or those of your family and friends. You can respond to this e-mail to sign up, or wait to sign up at the club meeting.
